Mind, body, soul. A week of running, yoga, massage, healthy food and wellbeing. It’s about surrounding ourselves by good people, living and breathing wild places, discovering new places, and investing time in ourselves to become both physically and mentally stronger.
So along with the help of some beautiful souls and good friends, this week will help you focus on rebalancing your whole being so that you can go away stronger and more connected in every way.
We’ll be based in a beautiful timber lodge with breathtaking views of Ben Nevis – a perfect and inspiring place to reach the summits of our local mountains and to reconnect with yourself.
Discover Lochaber’s mountains, wild trails and vast glens. Do you fancy running up Ben Nevis, taking the classic race route or the alternative way? Or continue along classic routes on Lochaber’s ridges, including the Ring of Steall and into the Mamores and Glencoe which are featured in Salomon Skyline Scotland and the Golden Series.
Or running lesser-known beautiful mountains, trails and glens, visiting wee bothies, lochs and beaches. Fancy a refreshing swim on the way? With our experienced and qualified Mountain Leader running guides, take yourself to a higher level and discover the magical stillness and silence at the top of our mountains.
It’s so good for the soul to be up high in the sky! Recce race routes and discover why this area is such a runners paradise! On the non-running days we’ll head to a loch for a spot of wild swimming or head out climbing to practice skills and strength.
Running will be mainly on rough trails, mountain paths, open hills, ridges which may be exposed at times (but no ropes needed), forest trails and, inevitably, Scottish boggy ground (which we try to avoid as much as possible!). Running days will vary in length depending on the conditions. If it’s a really good weather day then we’re likely to stay out for at least 4 hours.
We’d love to say that Anam is open to all trail runners. We base the running routes on the experience and fitness levels of the whole group so if you’re a group who already know each other, who run together and are similar levels then it’s easier for us to gauge the best routes to suit all. The routes are predominantly off-road, trail, hilly and mountainous, and are up to 15 miles/day. Of course, this isn’t about racing, it’s about running in beautiful places and taking it all in, but it does help to have a good level of fitness. If you have any questions about this, just ask. And of course it goes without saying that yoga is suitable for all and requires no previous experience. Julie, your yoga teacher, will tailor the class to suit the abilities and experience of the group. The classes focus on breath work - helping people to connect more deeply with themselves, their bodies and the world around them.
